Wall of the Fallen

On September 9, 2006, the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee, built the Wall of the Fallen, a monument honoring towing operators who have lost their lives while in service. The wall, several feet long, is engraved with the names of individuals who have died, and each year, a ceremony is held when new names are added for those who have been killed during the past year.

The Wall of the Fallen monument is a solemn tribute and a way to bring visibility to the importance of roadside safety.

Survivor Fund

The Survivor Fund provide immediate financial support to families of tow truck providers who have lost their lives in the line of service.

A variety of events help support the Survivor Fund, including Museum Weekend, which features engaging activities such as silent auctions and 5ks, providing opportunities for everyone to contribute and participate. An online memorial also recognizes those killed at the roadside.

How to Help

AAA is committed to raising awareness of roadside safety and the importance of Move Over laws. These laws require motorists to move over one lane or slow down when approaching an incident where a tow operator, police, firefighter, or emergency medical service crew is working at the roadside. Many states have also expanded their laws to cover other vehicles, such as utility and municipal fleets, and any disabled vehicle on the side of the road.
